Founder
Richard Aaron, the survey’s founder, has been involved with High Park for over two decades, including founding the High Park Moth Study (2016-2020). He has taught over two dozen adult workshops for the High Park Nature Centre (fungi, wildflowers, trees & shrubs, caterpillars), led nature walks for High Park Walking Tours, given presentations to the High Park Stewards, and wrote an interpretive sign about dragonflies for the High Park Natural Environment Committee, which stands next to Grenadier Pond. In addition, Richard has done nature walks, talks, and workshops beyond the borders of High Park on a wide variety of topics for over 100 organizations, ranging from naturalist clubs to universities.
iNaturalist Projects
To feature our efforts, an iNaturalist project has been created to compile a collection of the caterpillars we have found in High Park.

Starting in 2025, a few other aspects of the insect larvae world began to be appreciated by the survey. Leafminers (larvae which live within the tissue of leaves) and gall formers (larvae which induce an abnormal growth of plant tissue to live within) are both interesting mechanisms of defense worthy of their own study.
